Anmeldung: AI empowered research - Exploring benefits and limitations of using artificial intelligence in the research process [ENG]

This interactive one-day online workshop provides doctoral researchers and postdocs in STEM and medicine an introduction to selected AI-based tools that can effectively support academic work. The participants gain insights into the underlying concepts of machine learning and generative AI, explore state-of-the-art applications, and learn how to design effective prompts. In the workshop, participants have the chance to directly apply and practice their newly acquired knowledge in the context of practical exercises with the tools. Moreover, in group discussions, chances, risks, limitations, legal aspects, and current guidelines for the use of AI in academia are reflected on.

Prerequisites: The participants are required to create accounts for multiple AI tools (prior to or during the workshop). Note that only free versions of tools will be used, which may have a limited functionality compared to the premium versions.

• being able to choose a suitable AI-based application for a given problem
• being aware of risks and limitations of using AI-based tools as well as of selected legal issues
